Dear Friends:
Since 1992 the Southwest Youth Collaborative (SWYC) has been fighting for our most precious resource – our youth. We help neighborhood children learn about politics and gain self-worth, get into college, avoid gang life, experience art and other cultures, and so much more. Times are tough for everyone, but they are especially tough for the youth we serve. These young people are at risk of gangs, violence, and all the other problems you hear about on the news.
But what the news does not report is the resilience of these youth through tough times, and their ability to survive and thrive. Take, for instance, Amanda, an Urban Options program graduate. Amanda credits SWYC for her success: “SWYC encouraged, motivated, and helped me find ways to succeed. This center helps me strive for the greater things in life and taught me that hard work and motivation can help you achieve some of your greatest goals and aspirations.”
With your help, we can continue to transform lives and our communities, even during these challenging times. Over the last 18 years, Southwest Youth Collaborative has worked with more than 50,000 young people who might otherwise have been victims of violence, failed education, and the justice system.
We need your help to continue providing services to youth on Chicago’s South Side by contributing $20, $50, $100 or more to help us support and protectourmost precious resource.

Peace, with respect and care,
