Dear Friends,

The Community Justice Project, 64th Street Gallery, Generation Y and the Multicultural Public Arts initiative invite you to GRAFFITI REVOLUTION, a
special mural dedication and community baraza.

Baraza is Swahili for community gathering on pressing issues. On Sunday, October 7th, from 2pm to sun-down, we will celebrate and examine our
visions for youth liberation at the 15 year anniversary of the incorporation of the Southwest Youth Collaborative. This event will take place at the historic site of the first public art piece commissioned by SWYC, 63rd and Troy.

The mural contains symbols and images identified through a community process with young people from the surrounding area in partnership with
the Arab American Action Network, Inner-city Muslim Action Network and Generation Y. Featured are recent youth and parent lead campaigns, which include: Jobs for Youth, Juvenile Expungement, Anti-Violence, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Living conditions and Racial Disparities at the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, Immigration and the racial profiling and criminalization of undocumented youth and families.

Also featured are icons who have visited and inspired Southwest communities. This mural dedication reflects the multiple fronts that our
youth and families are fighting on and the organization's commitments to building strong communities. It is also a symbolic expression of the youth
struggle against criminalization.

Thank you to our sponsors who include: Chicago Department of Children & Youth Services, Local Initiative Support Corporation, Polk Brothers
Foundation, Chicago Foundation for Women, Marguerite Casey Foundation, the Public Square at the Illinois Humanities Council, Pritzker Pucker Family Foundation, Project Safe Neighborhoods, the Public Welfare Foundation and the Crossroads Fund.

We hope that you join us in our celebration of Children, Youth and Families!

Sincerely,

Jonathan Peck
