Open Youth Networks, a program of Chicago Filmmakers announces the premiere of six new videos created by youth participants of The Fair Use Remix Institute.
These short videos remix hip-hop, popular music, movie trailers, tv ads and political documentaries in order to reclaim free speech and offer a critical youth voice on issues such as corporate monopolization, sexism in the media, police brutality, blood diamonds, the Republican-led invasion of Iraq, gang impact on community and fast food culture.
Youth represent such organizations as Southwest Youth Collaborative, Radio Arte and Inner City Muslim Action Network. In addition to their own work, FURI members will show some powerful cutting edge new political remixes and talk about how they represent Fair Use and the cultural rights of youth.
This event is 100% free and there will be a food and drink reception starting at 5.
We hope to see you there.
