Flyer from our friends at AAAN:

The Arab American Action Network is inviting you to our annual even and fund raiser featuring the Um Kulthum Egyptian National Orchestra on Thursday, November 1st, 2007, at 8 PM, at the University of Chicago's Mandel Hall on 1131 E. 57th Street.

The AAAN has been providing social services, youth development programming, community organizing, advocacy, adult education, and cultural outreach since 1995. We serve hundreds of families per year, have initiated a new creative writing program for high school students, are in the forefront of the immigrant rights movement for legalization and to protect Arab immigrants and Arab Americans from discrimination and racist attacks, and have organized many cultural events like this one, including concerts for Marcel Khalife and the El Funoun Palestinian debka troupe. So we really hope that you can attend this historic concert and support our work.

Tickets are available for $100,$60, and $30 for students with IDs. The 100-dollar tickets are in the first 10 rows, the 60-dollar tickets are in the rest of the floor, and the 30-dollar tickets are in the balcony.

You can email me directly with ticket requests to: aaanevent(at)gmail.com, or

You can send your checks and your ticket order to:

AAAN
c/o Gihad Ali
3148 W. 63rd Street
Chicago, IL 60629

And we will hold your tickets at the Will Call table the evening of the event.

Free parking is available at 55th and Ellis, a couple of short blocks from the hall.

Thank you for your support and Please spread the word!
