Join Us for the Chicago Freedom School 2007 Summer Showcase

This year, 40 youth ages 14-16 participated in the inaugural Freedom Fellowship Year of the Chicago Freedom School. Please join the 2007 Freedom Fellows as they celebrate the end of their summer institutes by sharing culminating projects in Visual Arts, Media Arts, Music, Sports, Health, and Performing Arts. The program will end with a commencement ceremony for all participants.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Please bring friends. RSVP at info@chicagofreedomschool.org .

A Day In Our Neighborhood Project

The Northwestern University Collaboratory Project invites all K-12 students to participate in the third annual “A Day in Our Neighborhood” project, May, 2007, to learn more about the communities around us.

After registering for the Collaboratory Project, classrooms submit a link in our A Day in Our Neighborhood Cybrary about their school and hometown for students in other parts of the world.

On May 23, 2007, students take The Day in Our Neighborhood Survey,
an online Survey to learn more about the other students who are participating in the A Day in Our Neighborhood Project and their schools and communities.

Lynn Moore (Duncan's Chief of Staff) and a representative of the CPS Law Department (creates Board policies) will be there for one part of the meeting to hear from youth about how school discipline should be changed. Blocks Together Youth Council members will ask them to explain what they are recommending for next year's Student Code of Conduct.
