Registration Begins at 8:30 a.m.

Join us as we unite in creating a strategic plan of action to counter the American public policies that have declared war on Black men and Black boys. In essence, policies that have targeted Black family, Black community and Black culture. We invite our most talented and wiling brothers and sisters to redefine and change our current condition. We call on all social change agents, members of the faith-based communities, entrepreneurs, community based organizations, scholars, elected officials, educators, students, media professionals, artists, law enforcement, health care providers, the formerly incarcerated, family members and anyone who is concerned about the future of Black people to participate in a one day Town Hall small gathering in an effort to improve our quality of life in the 21st Century. Break out sessions will develop necessary skills to implement political and social change. Action Councils will provide opportunities for each participant to effect change based on one's own passion.

Teachers for Social Justice (TSJ) of Chicago presents the 7th annual Teaching For Justice CURRICULUM FAIR. SWYC Generation Y Youth will be presenting a resource table at this event.

The Teaching for Social Justice Curriculum Fair is like a Science or History Fair, except volunteer educators "present" and share ideas for bringing topics of social justice into the classroom.

The day's schedule also features Education for Liberation-oriented workshops, resource tables, lunch, and an open forum on "Teachers as Activists" (1-2:45PM).

Join us on November 10 for this exchange of resources and spirited discussion between educators, students, and community leaders from throughout the Midwest. This event, co-sponsored by Rethinking Schools Magazine (www.rethinkingschools.org), is organized entirely by teacher and student volunteers. CPDUs are availble.

Please join the 2007 Freedom Fellows as they celebrate the end of their summer institutes by sharing culminating projects in Visual Arts, Media Arts, Music, Sports, Health, and Performing Arts. The program will end with a commencement ceremony for all participants.

You will learn the basics of computer hardware and software. you will learn via hands-on experience and you will have access to computers, Internet, and video conferencing equipment. Lynn Moore (Duncan's Chief of Staff) and a representative of the CPS Law Department (creates Board policies) will be there for one part of the meeting to hear from youth about how school discipline should be changed. Blocks Together Youth Council members will ask them to explain what they are recommending for next year's Student Code of Conduct.
